Midgard is a free-to-play text-based MMORPG (MUD) set in a richly crafted Norse Viking world inspired by the Edda and ancient sagas. Set around 867 AD, you begin as a nameless Viking or shield maiden in Haithabu and forge your own legendary saga through exploration, combat, and choices that shape your destiny. The gods are real here: Odin tests the seekers, Thor honors the steadfast, and Loki laughs at those who think they are in control. Roam freely through forests, coastlines, mead halls, and sacred groves in a constantly expanding open world. Fight mythic creatures, survive defeats, return stronger. There are no arrows pointing the way, no checklists - only the path you choose and the legend you write. The longships await. The wind smells of salt and fate. What will the skalds sing of you?
