Midgard

Midgard is a free-to-play text-based MMORPG (MUD) in German, set in a richly crafted Norse Viking world inspired by the Edda and ancient sagas. Set around 867 AD, you begin as a nameless Viking or shield maiden in Haithabu and forge your own legendary saga through exploration, combat, crafting, a house of your own and choices that shape your destiny. The gods are real here: Odin tests the seekers, Thor honors the steadfast, and Loki laughs at those who think they are in control. Play with any MUD client or in the browser, where a web client adds a map, a quest log, a 3D view of your hero and NPCs speaking with their own voices. Blind and visually impaired players are welcome: 'grafik aus', or 'blind' at login, replaces ASCII art, boxes and bars with plain sentences, and combat is announced in words. The longships await. What will the skalds sing of you?
